A revised cone model and its application to non-radial prominence eruptions

Context. The traditional cone models achieve great success in studying the geometrical and kinematic properties of halo coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Aims. In this Letter, a revised model is proposed to investigate CMEs as result non-radial prominence eruptions. Methods. apex located at source region an eruption instead Sun center. axis deviates from local vertical by inclination angle θ 1 ϕ . length angular width are r ω , respectively. Results. was successfully applied two originating western limb on 2011 August 11 2012 December 7. By comparing projections cones with CME fronts simultaneously observed Atmospheric Imaging Assembly board Solar Dynamics Observatory Extreme-Ultraviolet Imager ahead TErrestrial RElations Observatory, were derived, including distance, width, angle, deviation plane sky, true speed space. Conclusions. This provides new complementary approach exploring whole evolutions CMEs.
